TrotCon 2018

2017 was kind of the best.

Just a little over a week ago, we converged yet again on Columbus, Ohio, for the sixth year in a row. And y’all, it was killer. Over 900 attendees, a couple thousand dollars raised for charity, amazing panel programming from guests and non-guests alike, an exciting concert, a fire alarm (because of course), probably the best vendor hall we’ve ever been able to organize — like, what?! How does this keep happening?

Oh, that’s right. Because of y’all. This thing where, y’know, the attendees of TrotCon are the absolute best folks any of us could ask for. We got lucky, really. Goodness.

So, uh, let’s do it again.

If you attended the closing ceremonies of 2017, you’ll recall that not only did we announce that TrotCon 2018 was happening, we also revealed its theme: under the sea! Underwater! Seaponies! You know, that sort of thing. We’d say sky’s the limit, but that sort of defeats the idea of a convention themed around water, right?

Well, now we’re ready to officially announce that convention. TrotCon 2018 will be held July 20-22, 2018, at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio!

It’s true! In just under a year, we’ll be back at the same venue and same general time in the summer to give ya some more pony-centric programming that focuses on the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV show and its vibrant fandom alike. Do we know who will be coming yet as guests? Uh, well, no, but stay tuned. We’ve got ya covered soon.

But to commemorate the announcement of TrotCon 2018, we’re happy to reveal that pre-registration is now open!

Beginning now and running through Sept. 10, you can snag a weekend pass (Friday-Sunday) to TrotCon 2018 for just $35! We’ve also got our sponsor badges up and running, starting at earth tier ($100) through draconequus (a limited number as always, at $2,000!). As with last year, we also have a spirit badge option available on our website for anyone who can’t attend TrotCon but would still like to donate to our little convention (and get something in return!). And as always, kids 12 and under are TOTALLY FREE with the purchase of an adult badge!

You probably want to know the other pre-reg details, right? So, after the initial $35 weekend price, we’ll bump things up $10 to $45 between Sept. 11 and Jan. 31, followed by $55 from Feb. 1 to June 22. After that, just like 2017, weekend badges will be available at the door for $60, along with single-day passes for $30 (Friday), $40 (Saturday) and $20 (Sunday).

Oh, right, factions, too! Well, after what we thought was a highly successful year having three different factions for 2017 — Stable Dweller, Raider and Steel Ranger — we’re gonna stick with three yet again.

This time around: Sea Pony, Hippocampus, Kraken.

All right. Choose your destiny, yeah?

In the meantime, that just about does it! We wanted to get a-movin’ on 2018 as soon as we could, and that involves getting tickets available for y’all sooner rather than later. We’re also, of course, incredibly stoked to share the art for 2018 from AylaStarDragon, our official convention artist. Ain’t it great? *insert my longest ‘yeah boy’ ever*

Speaking of Ayla’s work, remember the comic from 2017? The one that was turned into an absolutely stellar animation by Harmony Studios? Well, she’s doing another. Keep an eye out.

Hello! TrotCon’s This Weekend

Friends of TrotCon, guess what? It’s that time of year again!

Yes, this weekend, TrotCon 2017 happens in Columbus, Ohio, for the sixth year in a row. We’ll be setting up shop at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North for three days, beginning on Friday, July 14.

Along the way, you’ll be treated to panels from some of the great talent from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, including M.A. Larson, G.M. Berrow, Peter New, Lee Tockar and Heather Breckel! We’ll also have a slew — a veritable slew, y’all — of community guests who’ll be showing off their trade while informing each and every one of you on deeper aspects of the MLP franchise and what it means to them.

It’s gonna be sick. Truly.

The festivities begin with pre-registration TONIGHT, July 13, from 9 p.m. to midnight. Then, registration opens again at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 14, with the first panel kicking off at 10 a.m. We’ll have opening ceremonies at 7 p.m.

The shenanigans run until Sunday afternoon! Along the way, we’ll have full weekend badges available for $60, with single-day passes running at $25 for Friday, $40 for Saturday and $20 for Sunday. And remember, kids 12 and under get in free!

Come see why we’re still running strong six years running. See why we’re consistently considered a great option for adults and children alike.

TrotCon’s in a Week! Also, Important Schedule Changes!

Hello, everyone!

We come to you today exceptionally excited about TrotCon 2017 and what’s to come. From our programming to our vendor hall to our Saturday night concert and everything in between, we think TrotCon 2017 is going to rank among our best events, if not our absolute best.

And the good news is that TrotCon 2017 is indeed still happening next weekend, July 14-16, at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio! Mark your calendars!

We do, however, have some news to share about the convention that directly affects anyone planning on attending the Friday of the convention.

The SparkNotes version: Due to a misunderstanding between our venue and our core staff, we will not have access to all spaces of TrotCon 2017 in the way that we normally do each year. While certain spaces will be available Friday morning and even Thursday evening, July 13 (for pre-registration badge pickup in the latter case), certain other rooms will not be available until later in the day. This will be short-lived, and by 7 p.m. we will be fully operational and running the way we usually do (that’s all night, in case ya forgot) until Sunday evening.

In the meantime, we’ll be running on a sort of TrotCon Lite schedule earlier in the day on Friday. Will you be able to pick up your badge? Yep. Panels? Definitely. Other programming? Sure! But the schedule we originally released last week will see multiple changes on Friday, with certain events moved back a few hours and others moved to different rooms entirely.

It’s not ideal, but we’re going to make the best of it, and we’re happy to say that we’ll still have at least SOME programming going on at normal Friday hours.

Due to the lighter load of programming on Friday, we will be offering a slight discount in Friday-only badges, to $25 instead of $30. Since many of you arrive on Thursday or even very early Friday morning, we didn’t want to leave you hanging for too long without anything to do, so again, programming will indeed begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, starting with panels in Panel Room 2.

There is a small, small chance we’ve be able to manage a fourth-quarter hail mary and get everything back on track as was intended before the convention next week. And if that does happen, watch this space and our social media accounts to be the first to know. Otherwise, the posted schedule is what we’ll be going with for 2017.
