We’ve Got Claire Corlett for TrotCon 2020!

October 9, 2019 in Guest Announcement by Kevin

(Credit: Ruef)

It’s not even been two weeks since our last guest announcement for TrotCon 2020, but we’re just too excited to wait any longer.

Guess what? Claire Corlett’s coming to TrotCon!

For the very first time in our nine-year history, we’ll have the voice of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic‘s Sweetie Belle gracing the TrotCon halls here in good ol’ Columbus, Ohio. She’ll also be our first core Cutie Mark Crusader to visit (though Brynna Drummond, the voice of Babs Seed, stopped by a few years back).

In addition to her work on MLP, you might also be familiar with Claire via the TV series Dinosaur Train (Tiny), Bob the Builder (Dizzy) and 3-2-1 Penguins! (Michelle), among other titles.

She’ll be on hand at TrotCon 2020 to sit in on some panels, sign autographs and maybe pop up here and there elsewhere — who knows?! Still lots to plan; TrotCon’s not for another nine-ish months, after all.

Claire’s our first voice actor to join the TrotCon 2020 VIP guest list and the second from the show’s staff past and present, following M.A. Larson, who we announced nearly two weeks ago.

Wanna come hang with both of them (plus more still to be announced)? Good, that’s what we like to hear. We’ve got $45 badges, which last you the full weekend (Friday-Sunday), through Feb. 1, at which point the price will bump up to $55.

MORE TO COME, FRIENDZ.

Please Welcome M.A. Larson to TrotCon 2020!

September 27, 2019 in Guest Announcement by Kevin

All right, it’s been two months since TrotCon 2019. Time for some guest announcements.

Well, just one guest announcement today. But, like, more are coming. We just didn’t wanna overload ya.

Anyway, we’ll cut to the chase and welcome M.A. Larson to TrotCon 2020!

That’s right, he’s back! After attending multiple TrotCons in the past, the former story editor for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is making his first trip to the *checks notes* land of corn, beer and Schmidt’s sausages since 2017.

Of course, Larson departed FIM after season five, and since then, he’s been hard at work on his Pennyroyal Academy novel series (I bet you can buy his book[s] at TrotCon, what do y’all think?) and as part of the writing team for DC Super Hero Girls, reuniting him with one Lauren Faust. You might have heard of her.

As it is with all M.A. Larson TrotCon appearances, you’ll have the ability to say hi, get something (anything!) signed, attend panels featuring his insights into writing, animation and much more, and probably just generally get to hang out for a few minutes with him around the convention. Since TrotCon is, y’know, just that sort of place when it comes to VIPs, usually.

No other guest announcements for y’all at the moment, but we do have something else to say!

For just a few more days, TrotCon 2020 badges are $35 for the entire weekend, July 17-19. After Oct. 1, they’ll bump up to $45 for three days, a price that will persist through Feb. 1.

So, hey, if you’re still on the fence about coming to TrotCon but don’t mind paying $35 now vs. more later, now’s definitely the time to book! Because they ain’t getting any cheaper.

Announcing FoalPapers & Forward Progress for TrotCon 2019!

July 1, 2019 in Guest Announcement by Kevin

Hope you’re ready for one last community guest announcement! Because, uh, we have one, and this one’s a bit of a blast from the past.

That’s because FoalPapers is returning to TrotCon!

After hanging out with us as one of our handful of guests (community or otherwise!) in TrotCon 2012, he finally makes his return to TrotCon for 2019. We. Are. Stoked.

Since he joins us a little late in the game, you’re not going to be getting a FoalPapers-centric panel this year, though. Instead, he’ll be assisting on a variety of already-existing panels (check out our schedule for more info!), as well as appearing on various guest of honor panels as a moderator.

So you’ll be seeing him plenty. No worries.

Who is FoalPapers, by the way? Ever since 2011, he’s been in and around the MLP fandom, presenting panels and discussions based on things such as links between My Little Pony and Greek mythology at conventions and conferences, along with various appearances as a moderator and co-host of other events since brony conventions’ inceptions. He’s also partially responsible for the extremely helpful PonyCons spreadsheet that’s tracked each and every MLP con since MLP:FIM began (and some that existed before!), if you’re into record-keeping.

In addition to FoalPapers, we’d also love to announce that Forward Progress will be a community guest for the first time at TrotCon 2019!

Like FoalPapers, Forward Progress isn’t new to TrotCon, though 2019 marks his first time in the community guest realm here. He’s been presenting panels at TrotCon for multiple years now as the founder of the Keeping Friendship Magic project, exploring show analysis, mythology and much, much more.

He’ll have plenty of panels to run at TrotCon 2019 — busy pone and all — but he’ll also have a chance to appear as a special guest during other events, including programming from fellow community guests RiffPonies.

FoalPapers and Forward Progress join the already-announced Pixelkitties, RiffPonies, Fiaura the Tank Girl, TheBronyCritic, TJ Carson/Pirate Dash and Traveling Pony Museum as community guests for 2019! That’s EIGHT total guests to go along with our four guests of honor (Bill Newton, Heather Breckel, Katrina Salisbury and Elley Ray).

I guess that means it’s time for TrotCon.

One more quick announcement! We have the 2019 schedule available on the TrotCon.net website. Come on in and start planning your year, yeah?

TrotCon Musicians 2019

June 20, 2019 in Guest Announcement, Programming by Kevin

Hello, friends! Let’s talk about music.

You know that, right? Oh, of course you do. You’d have to be living under a rock (or just not a regular TrotCon attendee) to not already be aware of our yearly concert, which for the last two years has been expanded to a two-day affair.

2019 is no different. Starting Friday night and going into the wee hours of Sunday morning, we at TrotCon will be bringing you some of the finest musicians the My Little Pony fandom has to offer. Well, some of the finest who applied, at least. Which is, let’s be real, a fantastic bunch.

Nah, nah, we’re not just talking ’em up without anything to show for it. Check this out.

We’ll kick things off with a variety of instrument-based performers looking to either make your ears bleed with rawk or to make you sing along to the #hits old and new.

We’ve got Luck Rock, of course. Y’all know Luck Rock. Alt rock, pop punk, catchy tunes. Dare ya not to sing along. It’s gonna go a little something like this.

Hard rock more your speed? Good thing L Train’s pulling into the station. Was gonna make an MTA joke here but remembered this is an Ohio con. Headbang with me, y’all.

Good, now keep that headbangin’ going. Because Brownie’s back. Brownie, after all, is eternal, whether they’re rocking out in the TrotCon hallways or on stage. Metal up yr flank.

Finally, get a load of MelodyBrony, who’s gonna bring a combination of hard and acoustic rock to the TrotCon stage. You’ll notice their page includes some featured names that may or may not be at our con, too. Hm. HMMM.

Once that’s all said and done, we’ll lay down our weary hands (and try to get the ringing outta our ears, probz) before the big show, as it were: the customary Saturday night rave.

And boy, what a rave it’ll be. If you’re a veteran attendee of TrotCon, you’re gonna see folks old and new here, all with one goal in mind: to make you dance. (And maybe other things? Find love? I dunno what the deal is this year. I just know there’ll be music.)

11 quality sets, y’all. Let’s dive in.

You know R3CTIFIER, purveyor of various EDM sundries. Their hardest set yet is promised, if you didn’t already have enough reason to show up. They even tossed up a TrotCon-exclusive track the other day! Ain’t that neat?

Next up, there’s JESUSKIDZ, who I think played, like, SOPHIE in their set one year? I think so? Did I dream it? Anyway, never a dull moment with this killer producer, whether it’s via remixes or original tracks. Listen to JESUSKIDZ. And SOPHIE.

PFS, or PonyFireStone, has been here before. Seen a thing or two. Played a lotta sawngs. Provided dat bass. Ain’t nothing changing this year. You should be stoked.

Wanna see what you’re getting into with Trot newcomer TPressleyJ? Check out this HarmonyCon set from earlier this year at their Coltchella. Let us pray to the gods of trap, riddim, dubstep and the like. Amen.

Let’s seeeee, who’s next? Nextmourn, that’s who. Hope ya like drum ‘n’ bass. Who am I kidding, of course you like drum ‘n’ bass. And Nevermourn’s got ya covered on that front. I mean, look, their TrotCon application literally had it in all caps under genre. And nothing else. Stick to ya guns.

Y’all hear that we got General Mumble & Koa? If you missed that news, then, uh, here! Surprise! Surprise? Below’s a lil taste of the electronic music similar to what they’ll be bringing to the TrotCon stage. We. Are. Stoked.

Some newb called Chang31ing’s coming. Has definitely never performed at TrotCon. Certainly not seven times in a row. So here’s a primer on this EDM artist you definitely don’t know. Guess we’ll let anyone with a box on their head show up these days.

PegasYs should be a fun one. I mean, I’d think so; we know a thing or two about this glitch hop/electronic artist, who’s coming back for yet another year at TrotCon. Let’s boogie.

Brilliant Venture’s video of last year’s TrotCon performance has serious production value, y’all. Take a gander below while you get ready for the 2019 set from this purveyor of total bangers.

DO NOT MAKE AN OSTERMAN JEWELERS STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART JOKE KEVIN DON’T DO IT THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA PLEASE JUST TALK ABOUT STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART, which is a rap/production collective whose flow, rhymes and beats are absolutely gonna lodge themselves into your brain and not let go all weekend long. Is this a prank? Are we being punk’d? Or did we really get this lucky to get them to perform?

Last but not least, D3RP1’s coming by to play y’all some dubstep, some trap, and everything in between. Water Horse is playing the set, too, making this ol’ thing two for the price of one.  Ain’t you lucky.

That’s it and that’s all, folks! A lineup with schedules is coming soon, but we wanted to get this out in the open. Because, uh, TrotCon’s in a month.

A. Month.

Don’t got your badge yet? That’s OK! Click this link for more info.

Final Guest of Honor Announcement and Badge Sale!

May 25, 2019 in Guest Announcement, Registration by Darkly

Just when you thought we couldn’t have anything else up our sleeves, BAM! The Great and Powerful Trixie has helped us become the Great and Powerful TrotCon! And one of her finer tricks has been bestowed upon us. The VIP summoning special finale! Now sit back and be amazed!

Let me just…
Okay I think this goes here…
Aha! Behold! We bring forth upon the most generous patrons of our humble BUT GREAT convention… A YAK!

Introducing Katrina Salisbury!!! (Yes, like the steak)

Ms. Salisbury is a fairly prolific voice actor for being so young. She’s been in multiple animations including Kiznaiver, Tooth and Tail, and Tobot! However, we here in Ponyland, U.S.A. know this young Canadian actress as Yona the Yak! She’s not just a terror on the mic for voice acting, either. This intrepid young star also tears up the mic on Overwatch in her spare time, albeit probably with a different vocabulary than she has in My Little Pony. *Ahem* Anyway, come on out and join the crowd so you can truly experience for yourself that Yona is best!

And lastly we would like to do one last badge sale in honor of our final guest of honor for 2019! Use the code yaksmash to get 20% off Regular-Alicorn tier badges until June 2nd! To apply the code to your order select your badges on page 1 of registration, then go to page 2, at the bottom of page 2 there will be a spot to apply the code.

A Guest Announcement has Appeared!

April 24, 2019 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

Today is an exciting day for us and that means we have exciting news for you! I know what you’re thinking, “Who is TrotCon?” Knock it off! We haven’t been gone THAT long, BUT we have been busy! The staffers at TrotCon work very diligently to bring you the finest most refined little horse content and that takes time to process that ponirific pastel. The newest product in the TrotCon line comes via zeppelin from a far off land. This particular individual will be “New” to TrotCon but will be the third person with “New” in their last name to attend TrotCon. He will also be a “ton” of fun. See what we’re doing? Can you guess it?

It’s Bill Newton!

This pastel warrior has voiced a few different ponies in his time. The ever beloved Apple Dad, Bright Mac, is his premiere role in the show but since, he has taken up the antagonist flag and voiced Stygian, who is the Pony of Shadows sometimes, and Pharanyx, Thorax’s brother stuck in the old ways.
We are thrilled to have Mr. Newton join us for the convention, especially since Ms. Elley-Ray is a Pillar and Stygian is her friend. Or perhaps they will have an epic duel of Equestrian history in the middle of the mane stage, who knows? The only way you’ll find out is if you come to TrotCon and see!

Egad! That time again, already?

September 28, 2018 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

You bet! We have our first official VIP announcement for TrotCon 2019!

We decided to get an early start on those who literally promised at this year’s convention they would be back for next year’s convention. We felt it pertinent to investigate the possibility of a return guest and, lo and behold, the prodigal daughter returns!

Ms. Elley Ray will be joining us for TrotCon 2019! She is known to us for her role in My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic as Mistmane the Beautiful, one of the Pillars of Equestria. Ms. Elley Ray is a rambunctious individual who will roam around the con floor spreading happiness and love everywhere she goes! We can’t say you’ve never experienced a person like her, but we can venture a guess and say you’ll be in for a huge treat when you see her next year at TrotCon!

Our Final 2018 Guest of Honor Announcement!

June 17, 2018 in Guest Announcement, Registration by Darkly

Well, here we are. Have you guessed our new guests? Time to find out if you were right!

TrotCon is proud to present:

Lauren Jackson and Kyle Rideout! You may know them better as the voices of Silverstream and Thorax!

Lauren comes to us from the beautiful Canadian city of Vancouver, which seems to be a literal magnet for excellent voice talent. She loves the beach, and Silverstream is a hippogriff, so swimming on down to TrotCon is a perfect match. It also happens to be her first guest appearance at a con, ever, so welcome her with open arms and show her how friendship is not only magic, but pure AWESOME!

Kyle also hails from Vancouver (see, VA magnet, I’m tellin’ ya…). In addition to Thorax, the changeling that changed everything, you may also know him as Vinnie in Littlest Pet Shop, among other varied roles in animation and even film (yeah, he knows Deadpool, what of it?). He’s ready to experience what TrotCon has to offer, so don’t disappoint!

Things are shaping up for some excellent fun beneath the waves! It’s getting so close! I’m so excited! Are you so excited? It’s gonna happen! Swim on down to TrotCon. Tons of fun for everyone!

In honor of this announcement Sponsor Badge registration has been extended until June 22nd and regular pre-registration has been extended until June 29th.

Second Guest for 2018!

January 21, 2018 in Guest Announcement, Registration by Darkly

We’re very excited about this guest because we’ve decided to continue the trend of guests we have never before seen at TrotCon. She’s a marvelous addition to the My Little Pony family and she’s eager to get out there to conventions. She voices a handful of changelings but her mane character is Mistmane! She’s one of the Pillars of Equestria and we are welcoming her to TrotCon 2018. She is the wonderful and talented Elley-Ray! Her soul is as beautiful as her character’s and we’re really looking forward to her bringing more beauty to our convention than we already have.

Here’s a fun game. She has a beautiful signature and she’d love to put it on your memorabilia. So, we propose, you find something she’s been besides My Little Pony, in addition to MLP, of course, and bring it to her to have that signed as well. She has numerous NUMEROUS credits to her name and it will be a blast to bring to her some of the work she’s done in the past! But, don’t forget, Mistmane is a Pillar and we’re likely to see more of her in future seasons so get her signature on your Mistmane possessions conveniently at TrotCon 2018!

We would also like to remind you the registration rate for a weekend badge will be going up to $55 starting on January 31st. Hurry up and get it at the $45 rate before its too late!
