QUIET! We have a new guest announcement…

April 11, 2015 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

Here’s what we were thinking after last week’s season 5 premiere of My Little Pony: OK, a lot of things. Many things. Perhaps too many to name in this space. Y’all have done most of the talking on social media anyway, so no need to get too into that anyway.

One thing we CAN reveal is that it gave us what we thought would be a GREAT new guest idea. Well, dudes, things worked out and we can now announce that Kelly Sheridan will be attending TrotCon 2015!

You’ll know Kelly from a whole score of things; after all, she’s been in the voice acting business for a long, long time. But most recently in our little world, she voiced Starlight Glimmer, the villain of the season 5 premiere “The Cutie Map.” That’s right: now you can ask her to do the “QUIET!” voice while you get an autograph if you so desire and as long as she’s down! Just… don’t make it happen because you literally need to be quiet. Don’t be that guy or gal, yo.

In addition to her work with MLP, Kelly has been the voice of Barbie in many of Mattel’s feature-length films starring the doll many of you may have had as a kid, plenty of anime English dub roles including Ukyo in ‘Ranma 1/2’ and Sango from ‘Inuyasha,’ the Scarlet Witch from ‘X-Men Evolution’ and much more. Starlight Glimmer also wasn’t her first foray into MLP: she voiced Melody in ‘My Little Pony Tales,’ Cotton Candy in multiple 2000s-era MLP creations and even Cheerilee in ‘My Little Pony: Meet the Ponies’ and ‘Twinkle Wish Adventure.’ Far out, right?

Sheridan is the newest addition to the TrotCon guest list, which includes the recently announced M.A. Larson plus G.M. Berrow, Brian Drummond, Brynna Drummond, Heather Breckel and plenty of awesome fandom/community guests. And are we done? Stay tuned, y’all.

TrotCon 2015 will be held July 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio. Weekend badges are on sale until June for $45 with a $50 price at the door along with single-day passes. Our sponsor badges are still available as well, with chances to meet VIPs, get some rad goodies and more!

Welcome back M.A. Larson!

April 7, 2015 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

Every year, we try to bring in some new talent to the convention you’ve never seen before — after all, not all of us have the chance, time or money to travel cross-country to see different personalities at separate conventions. Already at TrotCon 2015, you can see Bryan and Brynna Drummond and G.M. Berrow — all making their TrotCon debuts.

On the other hand, there’s something to be said for fan favorites. And that’s just what our newest guest is: not just a fan favorite across the My Little Pony fandom, but someone who’s come to Columbus to hang with us before.

This July, we’re welcoming back M.A. Larson to TrotCon!

If you’re vaguely familiar with the fandom, Larson should need no introduction… but let’s pretend like everyone here is for a moment. Mitch Larson comes to us as the show’s main writers and as a story editor for season 5. In addition to penning the recent season 5 premiere “The Cutie Map,” he’s written some of the series’ beloved episodes, including “The Return of Harmony,” “The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000,” “Sonic Rainboom” and “Magical Mystery Cure,” among many more.

In addition to his MLP credits, Larson has been involved with the writing staff of Littlest Pet Shop, Gravity Falls, Kick Buttowski and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

So chances are you haven’t only seen his work in MLP. Plenty to talk about, eh?

He joins Heather Breckel, another super rad guest we’ve already announced, as TrotCon alumni. Is it an exclusive club? We’re not sure. Maybe Peter New knows. Someone go ask Peter.

M.A. is far from our final guest announcement for 2015, either. Stay tuned, friends — more coming very, very soon.

In the meantime, get your tickets to hang out with M.A. Larson, Bryan Drummond, Brynna Drummond, Heather Breckel, G.M. Berrow and an assortment of community guests — plus the usual, probably coolest crowd (we’re talking about you, dear attendee! <3). Badges are $45 through June 15! After that, $50 at the door with single-day passes available at the con as well. Wanna meet M.A. and the others? Sponsor badges that include VIP perks are available, too!

Special Announcement!

March 12, 2015 in Registration by Darkly

Special announcement for all y’all ponies who have pre-registered for TrotCon 2015 and those of you who are thinking of doing so!

We’re excited to reveal that those who pre-register for the convention will be automatically entered for a chance to win various door prizes at the con, including — in keeping with our theme of magic — a replica of our super rad and totally magical mascot Peanut Bucker’s wand!

PBsWand-Preview

The other prizes of varying sizes, shapes, appendages and uses will be revealed as we get closer to TrotCon (July 17-19, if you’ll recall!).

One catch: you gotta be present at opening ceremonies to claim your prize, in addition to having pre-registered. Only those who have fulfilled both categories will be able to win a prize.

Pre-registration closes June 15, so you’ve got some time — but not TOO much time! Don’t put this off too much longer, yeah?

TrotCon 2015 will be held July 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio. So far, Brian Drummond, Brynna Drummond, G.M. Berrow, Heather Breckel and a score of community guests are part of our lineup… and trust us, there’s more up our sleeve.

Fandom Guests – Podcast Edition!

February 13, 2015 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

We at TrotCon have things to say!

First, OK. Convention planning’s going well, thanks for asking. We’re really excited to see everyone in July, but not, like, excitement bordering on flat out obsession. We’re not staring wistfully out of a window, circling the dates on our calendar (July 17-19, by the way!) and counting down the days by carving little checkmarks into our walls.

That’s not until April.

Until then, we’re really excited to add to our roster of special guests for TrotCon 2015 today! We started out as a convention that focused solely on the fan community, and though we’ve moved on to also featuring official show staff and the like, we’re still very, very dedicated to bringing you some of the best of the bronies. If you are too, then you’re gonna dig these guests.

First, let’s welcome ChocoPony to TrotCon 2015!

Choco does plenty of things. No, really, like, dude’s busy. He’s best known for creating the Equestria Tarot Cards, moderates the Chocolate Pony and Fyrefly Tumblr blogs, co-founded the TumblrPonCast and has created banners for Equestria Daily and Derpy News. And now he’s coming to TrotCon, too. Remember when you woke up and lounged around on the Internet all day today? And that was it? Yeah, get rekt.

We’re also excited to welcome Emily Jones back to TrotCon!

Emily’s been here before plenty of times; after all, she’s from the Columbus area, just like us! You’ll know her from the long-running fandom podcast Pegasisters Live, as well as plenty of fandom music (try “Here on the Moon” by 4Everfreebrony, “Turning Over a New Leaf” by Mandopony… you get it) and as a voice actress, such as Nicole on “C-Students.” If you’re part of the fandom but have been somehow living under a rock and don’t know her (don’t worry, it’s OK – it’s cool under there), go give her a follow on Twitter at @namineahtellai; she’s on there aplenty.

Finally, in the spirit of more podcasters: let’s bring PonyToast back to TrotCon, shall we?

PonyToast’s that guy you’ll hear on True Equestria Radio on Ponyville Live, and he’s the host of the always daunting task of counting down the best pony music of the year on the Top 50 Pony Music Countdown New Years’ Eve on Fillydelphia Radio – a regular Casey Kasem, this one. We’d also assume he’ll be bringing his long, flowing locks of hair to the convention. Seriously, have you seen it? Like a flowing golden mane of hope and justice.

Sadly, with this news, we must bring something bad to the table as well: as many of you know, Pixelkitties has had to cut down her convention schedule in 2015 due to work, meaning we’ll lose her as a guest in 2015—the first time she hasn’t made it out to TrotCon. End of an era, y’all. We’ll miss her loads and hope she can make it out next year. Til then, raise ya beer mugs in honor, homies.

More guest announcements coming in the next few months up until TrotCon 2015, which will be held July 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets are currently $45 for the weekend, with multiple sponsor badge tiers available as well.

Two New Guests!

January 28, 2015 in Guest Announcement, Registration by Darkly

Friends, life isn’t all about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

OK, so maybe it is for some of you—and it’s certainly our main focus here at TrotCon, too. But one of our two new guests at TrotCon 2015 has quite the impressive resume outside of ponies, so much so that we simply couldn’t resist having him out.

In 2015, we’ll be having Brian Drummond, a man of many voices, at TrotCon!

You may best know Brian for his work as Vegeta in the Ocean Studios English dub of Dragon Ball Z, along with tons of other prominent anime roles, including Ryuk in Death Note, Renkotsu in InuYasha and Zechs Merquise in Gundam Wing. For real, dude gets around.

But that’s not all! Brian has lent his voice to quite the rundown of characters in MLP:FiM, most prominent among them Carrot Cake (or Mr. Cake, if you will) and Filthy Rich, along with a score of other roles like Ahuizotl and even Dr. Hooves in an early episode. He also threw it down as Spike in pre-FiM content The Princess Promenade, Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow and My Little Pony Live: The World’s Biggest Tea Party. Where you at, G3 fans?!

As for our other guest? Let’s keep it in the family, shall we?

We’ll also be bringing Brynna Drummond to TrotCon 2015! You’ll know her as lil ol’ Babs Seed from the Apple family, the fourth member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Get ready to sing the song. The “Babs Seed” song. It’s gonna happen.

It’s gonna happen hard.

Fancy a visit with the Drummonds? Come on down to TrotCon 2015, held July 17-19 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North. Badges are currently $45 for the whole weekend—and guess what? We’re not done announcing guests. No, sir/madam.

Our Guest List Just Got Way More Colorful

January 20, 2015 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

Our next guest is someone those of you who have come to TrotCon in the past (let’s say the last two years, eh?) should know very, very well.

For the third year in a row, Heather Breckel will be coming to TrotCon!

Heather is best known in the My Little Pony fandom as the colorist on the IDW Publishing comic series that is quite beloved throughout the fandom. Additionally, she’s done the same for many of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series issues for IDW, as well as Godzilla: Half Century War and The Trip. Comic book fan? Yeah, you’ve probably seen her work. It’s rad.

Now, we’re not just bringing out Heather because she lives here in Columbus, of course. Every year, our attendees have ranked her among your favorites to see and meet at the convention, whether it’s at her Artist’s Alley table or at one of her panels. So, hey, why mess up a pretty great thing?

Heather will be on hand all weekend, so get your questions, comments and proposals for eternal friendship ready to go, because you’re only six months away from getting to see her, G.M. Berrow and many more at TrotCon 2015.

A New Guest has Appeared!

December 31, 2014 in Guest Announcement by Darkly

Are you ready for some TrotCon guest announcements?

We can’t hear you!

No, really, we can’t hear you over how excited we are to be bringing G.M. Berrow to TrotCon for the very first time!

G.M. is the author of numerous tomes from the My Little Pony world, including multiple Friendship is Magic chapter books (“Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell” and “Rainbow Dash and the Daring Do Double Dare” among them) and even the Daring Do Adventure Collection — co-authored, naturally, with A.K. Yearling.

But not only that — she’s also a new addition to the MLP:FIM writing staff, with the fruits of her labor hitting your pretty little TV screens once season 5 rolls around.

In addition to her work in the world of pony, she’s also dabbled in “Law and Order: SVU,” “The Good Wife” and more.

G.M. will be coming to us from Brooklyn, New York, the raddest borough in New York City. Go say hi and tell her you’re excited to see her this July; she’s at @gmberrow on Twitter.

If you want to hang with her and many others at TrotCon 2015, now’s a superb time to book your visit. Weekend badges for TrotCon are $35 through Jan. 9, at which point they’ll bump up to $45. In the interest of saving $10, don’t delay! Of course, multiple tiers of sponsor badges — some of which will get you the chance to meet G.M. Berrow and our other VIPs — are available now.

It’s gonna be gooder than grits, y’all. And this is just the beginning.

Community Guests and Musician Applications!

November 6, 2014 in Guest Announcement, Registration by Darkly

Want to hear something practically insane? It’s already been over four months since TrotCon 2014, and boy, do we miss all of you so.

So we decided: why not tide everyone over with our first guest announcement of 2014?

We’re proud to announce that TrotCon 2015 will feature Pixelkitties and TJ Carson, aka Pirate Dash, as guests of honor!

TrotCon 2015 marks the fourth time we’ve put on a My Little Pony convention in Columbus, Ohio, and Pixelkitties has been there since the beginning. If you’ve spent even just a day on a pony imageboard or browsing through the most delectable My Little Pony art, you’ve seen her work – we’ll bet a few bits on that. She’ll be here again to peddle her wares, from art and prints to other gratifying goodies, plus expect her to appear on a panel or two as well.

TJ Carson’s in his second year at TrotCon as a guest of honor. You’ll know him from Tumblr, as moderator of Ask Pirate Dash and Ask Mic Boom – so if you’re a Tumblrpon or want to know more about that community, he’s the dude to say, ‘Sup?’ to. He’ll be holding down some Tumblr- and pony-related programming all the weekend long.

Oh, and what’s that you say? You’re a musician? That’s pretty far out, cowboy, because we’re looking for any and all interested musicians for our 2015 music festivities! Last year we had dozens of artists performing over two nights, and we’re hoping to bring down the house again in 2015 – though not literally, because that might get messy. Interested in applying or know someone who’d be perfect for the job? Hit ’em up at http://trotcon.net/registration/music-app/ for more info.

And on that note, don’t forget panel, vendor and staff applications are currently up on our website! Apply there or email trot@trotcon.net for information on how to get up in front of people at TrotCon 2015.

Sound rad? Nice, really nice. We’ll be held July 17-19, 2015, at our new home of the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in Columbus, Ohio. Badges for the weekend currently run $35 through January, with multiple tiers of sponsor badges available as well over at our registration page – http://trotcon.net/registration/.
